The document is built in your browser and downloads straight away. Open it in Word, Pages, LibreOffice, or upload it to Google Drive and open it with Google Docs.

What carries over to Word

Paragraphs, headings, bold, italic and underline, bulleted and numbered lists, links and simple tables are mapped to real Word formatting rather than pasted HTML. Images stored in the export are embedded in the document, so it works offline and can be shared as one file.

Embedded videos and iframes (YouTube players, external tools) can’t live inside a Word file, so they’re left out. Links that only work inside the course become plain text.

Questions

Can I edit the documents in Google Docs?

Yes. Upload the .docx to Google Drive and open it with Google Docs, or use File › Open in Docs. Formatting and images come along.

Are assignment details included?

Yes, when the export has them: points, due date and submission type appear under the title, followed by the instructions.

Can I export everything at once?

With a Course pass, “Export whole course” gives you a ZIP with every page, assignment and discussion as Word, and every quiz as a student copy and an answer key. Free exports are one item at a time.

Why is there a line at the bottom of each page?

Free exports carry a one-line “Made with OpenIMSCC” footer. You can delete it in Word.

Does it work with Canvas Commons or other LMS cartridges?

Anything exported from Canvas as .imscc works best. Other Common Cartridge files often open too, but Blackboard and D2L packages in their own formats aren’t supported yet.
